STRANGE PLANT IN THE GARDEN!

Came home from work today and the DH was making me a cup of tea when he came and said to keep quiet and follow him!
Being a very obedient wife I did !
He told me to look through the French doors to the side !

Which I did expecting to see a bird nesting somewhere but what I saw was a very strange new type of plant!

Not overly colourful but with nice marking! It was Catacus Mabelus!!!

Yes It's Mabel the stray who is not actually a stray, we found out she lived a few doors down where the lady as five cats all the others male and a couple of dogs, one of the male cats would pick on her, so she spent all her time in their next door neighbours conservatory until the neighbours moved and the new people did not want a strange cat living with them and that's when she made her way up to us!.
It appears she would sleep with the dogs when she was a kitten which was why she likes sleeping on our dogs beds even when they are on them however our dogs grumble then move and give up their bed!!

Totally un bothered about having her photo taken and is still sleeping there as I type however the DH as put the water butt cover back on for fear she may get a soaking if she over stretches herself!!!

  1. Awww that's so sweet Dee! What a lovely place to 'grow' too!
Cats are funny creatures, we've got a few that come into our garden and hang around, despite the fact that our dogs, particularly Lucy the Miniature Pinscher, really really does not like cats!!! And she certainly lets them know it! But they come along all the same!!!

  2. He he he - bet you got a surprise! It's obviously a warm spot.
Your visitor looks very like our cat but she has an uncanny knack of escaping every time anyone tries to take her photo.
There's someone here who wishes kittens grew in our flower pots :)

  3. Oh Dee that's priceless! I bet she felt quite safe and snug up there. Many years ago we had a little ginger tom cat we called Bobtail (because he was born with only a little stump). He liked nothing better than curling up in the entrance of our German shepherd's kennel. If Danny wanted to take a nap he'd pick up Bobtail by the scruff of his neck, go in, turn round and then place the little cat on his front paws without so much as waking him - so sweet to watch.
One year at our canal boat moorings a mother duck decide to hatch out her 12 ducklings in a wall planter very similar to yours, and we were very concerned when she kicked them all out the next day to get them in the water, but they all survived the 6ft drop, except for one who fell into a drain and then had to be helped out by hand. Never seemed to have the camera handy!

  4. I think that I'm one of those people who prefer slightly more colourful plants and that don't need so much looking after!
Certainly made me smile. She has obviously found a really good second home full of homely creature comforts.... and rather creative !

(Not too sure if I can fully believe the statement 'being the obedient wife that I am!' It's not that I don't believe that you are telling 'the whole truth and nothing but the truth' ......but there still seems to be a few 'niggles' floating around!
Might have to confer with Paul on that one in October just to put my mind finally at rest!)
